Promote Study Abroad Programs

If you are a college student considering or preparing for foreign study, you should know that the study abroad experience is one you will likely remember for the rest of your life. This is a real adventure that not only improves your college transcripts, but also your level of maturity and life experience. There is so much to learn, and not all of it can be taught in the classroom. Along with traditional study you will get to explore the region which you are visiting as a tourist as well.

Will I be in a class room the whole time or can I get some 'hands on' expierence?

Being there is what its all about. For example, let's say you have decided to study Spanish in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to spending time on campus learning with students and your instructors, you can explore the region and get to know the natives. In this particular city there are quaint outdoor cafes, vibrant shops, amazing places to dine and even sizzling nightlife. You may also want to visit museums, landmarks and other local places of interest in order to immerse yourself in the culture thus learning the language more efficiently.

Or maybe you want to study the art of Italian cuisine in Tuscany. You may get to stay in a real Tuscan villa and explore not only the kitchen but also the local sights. There are cheese makers, olive oil manufacturers, wine makers, herb growers and more in the Tuscan region that students can visit to expand their learning experience. France is the same way, whether you are studying language, cooking or art there are so many amazing things to see and do related to these subjects. It is even possible to study two things at once, such as language and art.

Your particular study abroad experience will be unique to you. It depends on where you go and what you are studying. Also, how long you stay may factor in. There are programs for high schoolers, as well as university programs that last a semester, or even a whole summer. By the time you return from spending three months or so in a foreign country, you will be more mature, more educated and possess a more global view of life. Not only that, but the experience will have a positive bearing on educational programs and jobs you may want to apply for following graduation.
