BYU offer 4 different ypes of programs:

Study Abroad - Programs are professor-led in a foreign country during a whole semester or term.

International Interships - The students are independent of faculty, but follow a course contract provided by a professor. Thsi is on-the-job training.

International Feild Study - A project-oriented experience in an international and cross-cultural setting.

Direct Enrollment - Thsi means you actually enroll into a University in another country.

Can I do volunteer work overseas?

Yes. Look into the International Development Internships, Romania Field Study, or Guadalajara Study Abroad. These programs offer volunteer opportunities for academic credit. Many other programs encourage a component of service while in-country, through all programs are ultimately academically based.

I'm a graduate student.

That's cool, but you are required to pay graduate tuition.
